Jon Lincicum's experience with the web predates the web itself. Jon began his web development career administering a highly popular Bulletin Board System (BBS) in his hometown of Salem, Oregon while still in high school.
Since then, his career has mirrored the development of the web, growing exponentially. While studying Vocal Music at both Southern Oregon University and the University of Oregon, Jon taught himself HTML and developed his Catalogue of Classical Composers as an extension of his musical interests.
The site was an instant hit, earning a listing with Yahoo! and winning several awards, including a StudyWeb Educational Site Award. With its simple yet elegant design and plethora of information, Jon's Catalogue of Classical Composers quickly became one of the most visited and award-winning pages at the University of Oregon.
Jon's philosophy about design is straightforward: "A design should be simple enough to be intuitive, but you also want it to look great. A design should reflect the information being conveyed; after all, the information is what a web site is about!"
